Reference Daily Intake (RDI Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) replaces the U.S. RDA (Recommended Daily Allowances) as a label reference for vitamins, minerals, and protein. They are based on the National Academy of Sciences’ Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA). It is one of two references to determine Daily Value (DV) for the nutrition label on a food package. This topic discusses updates to RDIs, labeling requirements in regard to RDIs and how food product designers can use RDIs to provide an optimal balance of nutrients in a given product.
