Speaker:
Dr. Marianne O’Shea, Ph.D., is the Director of North America for Lipid Nutrition B.V. Her responsibilities include the sales and profitability growth for the North American region which includes the United States and Canada. Prior to her current position, she was the Director of Nutrition for Lipid Nutrition B.V. Her responsibilities in this capacity included the management and coordination of clinical development for Lipid Nutrition products globally, and to support the sales and marketing teams within the U.S. O’Shea has been with Lipid Nutrition B.V. since August of 2000. She has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a doctorate degree which focused on the mechanisms of action of bioactive lipids. She has conducted research in the area of conjugated linoleic acid since 1996 and has given many presentations on this work internationally, she also holds publications and patents in this area. The main focus of her work investigates the effects of CLA on body composition and immune function in humans. O’Shea has been responsible for setting up research networks for CLA in Europe and the U.S. and has a vision to facilitate global communication between these networks and those existing in Canada and Japan.
