Genetic engineering (GE) is the science of changing the genetic structure of organisms through techniques such as recombinant DNA. This topic discusses GE as it relates to plant and animal foods, ingredients and flavors (i.e., cloning food, biotechnology in food, recombinant DNA in food) and the current crops and agricultural trends of genetically modified food.
