NEW YORK—Coca-Cola has been named the world’s No. 1 brand for the 12th consecutive year while its soft drink rival Pepsi ranked No. 23, according to Interbrand/BusinessWeek’s “Best Global Brands" special report.

The report revealed despite an erratic business climate the Top 100 brands are constantly flexing, evolving and innovating to meet the new needs of today’s consumer.

“By refining digital strategies and strengthening social networks, today’s most valuable brands are creating more relevant customer engagements. These brands have seized opportunities to host richer, more tailored experiences, which, in turn, help drive longer-term loyalty and value among consumers and partners alike," said Jez Frampton, Interbrand’s Global CEO.

New to the Top 10 brand this year is Apple, which captured the No. 8 spot from Nokia that fell to No. 14. Apple’s brand value increased a staggering 58% from last year.

Other food and beverage brands making the Top 100 include: McDonalds (No. 6), Budweiser (No. 29), Nescafe (No. 30), Kellogg’s (No. 34), Heinz (No. 40), Danone (No. 52), Nestle (No. 55), KFC (No. 62), Sprite (No. 63), Pizza Hut (No. 81) and Starbucks (No. 96).
