BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Virginia Dare continued its commitment to the environment and sustainability by joining forces with Hike for kaTREEna to plant a grove of trees along Lake Pontchartrain during the 2011 IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo held in New Orleans in June.

Hike for kaTREEna is a New Orleans-based non-profit organization dedicated to replanting the city’s beautiful magnolias and majestic live oaks trees that were lost in Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath. The grove represents Virginia Dare’s continued commitment to the environment.

The company also has supported the Arbor Day Foundation’s planting of pine, fir and cedar trees at the Plumas National Forest in California; recycling research at the New York Institute of Technology; local energy efficiency initiatives; and participates in the Trans Fair USA fair trade, and SEDEX Supplier Ethical Date Exchange programs.
