WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—Coconut water is the new darling among fitness buffs, celebrities, and consumers seeking the latest, greatest healthy beverage. Considered a natural

isotonic beverage that can help replace fluids and electrolytes after exercise, coconut water is also high in potassium, and low in fat, sugar and cholesterol. That said, a new study from Consumerlab.com reports some brands of coconut water don’t live up to their labels.

The study looks at three brands of coconut water: O.N.E., Vita Coco and Zico. Of the three, Zico Natural Pure Premium Coconut Water contained electrolytes comparable to that in popular sports drinks, like Gatorade. The other two had only 18 and 59 percent the levels of sodium listed on their labels.

The report also compares the three brands for taste and price.
