Fresh Express Salads Recalled over Salmonella

WASHINGTON—Fresh Express, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chiquita Brands International based in Salinas, Calif., is recalling Fresh Express Romaine-based ready-to-eat salads because they may be contaminated with Salmonella, reported the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall involves Fresh Express Romaine-based ready-to-eat salads with the expired use-by dates of May 13-16 and an "S" in the Product Code. The products were distributed to retailers in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
