WASHINGTON—Stephen Sundlof, head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), is stepping down from his post to take a 2-year academia post at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
Sundolf will be responsible for initiating a new training and development program in regulatory science in conjunction with the University of Minnesota and the Ohio State University; however, he will continue to be available to the FDA Foods Program as a senior adviser.
Michael Landa, deputy director for regulatory affairs at CFSAN since 2004, will serve as acting director of CFSAN. Roberta Wagner, director of CFSAN's Office of Compliance since 2008, and Donald Kraemer, deputy director of CFSAN's Office of Food Safety since 2007, will serve as CFSAN's acting deputy directors.
