TEL AVIV—Vitamin-fortified foods and vitamin supplements in pill form can ease health worries; however, new research from Tel Aviv University suggests that supplementation of high doses of vitamin E is not beneficial in preventing cardiovascular disease and may do more harm than good to cardiovascular health.
In their evaluation of studies covering 300,000 people in Europe and the United States, a team led by Prof. Dov Lichtenberg of TAU’s Sackler School of Medicine found that, on average, vitamin E-supplemented individuals had slightly shorter lives than those who didn't take the supplements.
