MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Cargill is responding to the devastating earthquake in Haiti with an initial corporate donation of $50,000 that will be directed to long-time Cargill partners CARE and the World Food Programme.
Cargill volunteers at its headquarters facility will be packaging 20,000 meals on Jan. 18 for the nonprofit Kids Against Hunger, which will be sent directly to Haiti; Cargill volunteers will be packaging an additional 30,000 meals over the next month.
"Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti who are suffering through this natural disaster. As a global food company we will work with our nonprofit partners to provide aid on the ground to help in Haiti where we can," said Mark Murphy, assistant vice president, Cargill corporate affairs. "We are proud to join other companies who are helping one of the poorest countries in the world as it deals with this tragic disaster."
