HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.—The AOI Tea Co. acquired a tencha processing facility in Kyoto, Japan. The term “tencha” refers to freshly harvested tea leaves that have been quickly steamed and dried, ready to grind into Matcha, a premium powdered green tea.
“The addition of our new Kyoto facility is a great complement to our already strong Matcha green tea cultivation and manufacturing capacities in the Nishio region,” said Chieko Yamamoto, COO of AOI Tea Co. “Now we offer our customers access to premium Matcha green tea from both of Japan’s premiere growing regions, Nishio and Kyoto, along with our processing expertise and high technological standards.”
