WASHINGTON—Adults without cardiovascular disease (CVD) should get at least 500 mg of a combination of the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and those who have CVD should shoot for 800 to 1,000 mg/day, according to a new review from the Journal of American College of Cardiology.

The report states further studies need to be conducted to determine the ratio of DHA and EPA for optimal heart health.
