NEVADA, Iowa—Burke Corporation received a third-tier Master Achiever Pioneer Star (MAPS) Award from the American Meat Institute (AMI) for implementing and maintaining an Environmental Management System (EMS).

Each year, AMI recognizes organizations dedicated to lowering their environmental impact. The MAPS Awards Program honors companies across various steps in EMS development. Burke was once again honored at the third tier, Pioneer, for adopting numerous AMI policies, monitoring environmental impact and setting objectives for environmental practices.

“It’s important that we’re recognized not only for food safety, customer service and employee safety, but also for being environmentally friendly,” said Dave Weber, senior vice president of Burke.
