The Associated Press is reporting that six German states on May 22 ordered retailers to stop selling Red Bull Cola energy drinks after a sample test found 0.4 micrograms of cocaine per liter in the drink. Five other states voluntarily banned the energy drink over concerns of possible narcotics law violations.
According to AP, Germany's Federal Institute for Risk Assessment said the cocaine level was too low to pose a health risk but will provide a more detailed report May 27.
Red Bull has refuted the findings, saying its test found no traces of cocaine.
