BERLIN—Germany became the sixth European Union nation to ban the cultivation of Monsanto’s genetically-modified (GM) maize, called MON 810.
As reported by AFP, Agriculture Minister Ilse Aigner outlawed the cultivation of MON 810 maize based on environmental grounds.
"I have come to the conclusion there are just reasons to assume that the genetically modified maize MON 810 represents a danger for the environment," she said.
