Sustainability Top of Mind at DSM

HEERLEN, Netherlands—It’s an A+ for sustainability at DSM, which achieved the highest ranking of its annual Triple P Report (People, Planet, Profit) by the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). During 2008, DSM strengthened its sustainability strategy in several areas:

Climate & Energy: Reduced worldwide greenhouse-gas emissions by more than 30 percent, compared to 2005, developed innovative new products in areas such as plastics and resins, and introduced bio-based processes in the feed, food, beverage and pharma sectors;

Health & Wellness: partnered with organizations such as the U.N. World Food Programme to battle “hidden hunger”—micronutrient deficiency, enhanced its MixMe™ sachets to further tackle iron deficiency in the developing world;

People: increased the diversity of its management workforce by gender and geography.
