MINNEAPOLIS—Cargill announced today that its Truvia™ natural sweetener brand has become a Premier Sponsor of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. Cargill’s Truvia™ natural sweetener brand will be featured prominently at various ADA events and recognized in ADA materials throughout the two-year sponsorship.
“We are pleased to be able to support the ADA in its work on improving the nation’s health, diet and nutrition through professional education,” said Zanna McFerson, business director, Cargill Health & Nutrition. “Providing ADA members with information about Truvia™ natural sweetener will help inform consumers about this new great tasting natural zero-calorie sweetener option.”
Truvia™ natural sweetener is made with rebiana (at least 97 percent rebaudioside A) a fully characterized component of the best tasting part of the stevia leaf. Cargill is the only company to have published the comprehensive results of its safety studies for rebiana and received official support from the FDA in December 2008 for the findings.
“ADA welcomes this new relationship with the Truvia™ natural sweetener brand,” said registered dietitian and ADA President, Martin Yadrick. “Registered dietitians fill an important role in educating the public on food and nutrition, and as a result of the Truvia™ brand’s Premier Sponsorship, ADA members will have access to information and educational tools they can use with clients and patients who are interested in natural zero-calorie sweetener options for weight and health management.”
Truvia™ natural sweetener is currently available as a tabletop product for purchase at grocery retailers across the United States and will appear in many foods and beverages in the coming months.
