SECAUCUS, N.J.—The 11th annual SupplySide East Trade Show and Conference features a new education track dedicated to Food & Beverage innovation and opportunities related to health and wellness. In addition to the 30+ presentations in the education program, SupplySide East features an exhibit hall with hundreds of ingredient companies displaying natural, healthy and functional ingredients. Set for April 27-29 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, New Jersey, SupplySide East attracts thousands of R&D, product development, marketing and other executives from the food, beverage, supplement and cosmeceutical industries.
Presentations in the education program include the following:
- Brian Kuz, director of business insights at Red Bull North America, will speak about the energy drink category.
- Dr. Harry Preuss of Georgetown University Medical Center will discuss weight management and the ingredients that actually work.
- Nicole Butterfass, manager of quality systems at American Dairy Queen, will discuss food safety in a global economy.
- Dr. Robert McQuate, founder of GRAS Associates, will address sweeteners derived from stevia, their GRAS status, and opportunities for product development.
- The Hartman Group will present data from its new Healthy Eating Trends 2009 syndicated study.
- Wixon’s Mariano Gascon, vice president R&D, will share sodium reduction strategies that maintain flavor and functionality.
- Euromonitor International will provide an overview of the global market for fortified, functional, better-for-you and organic foods.
- Dr. Jack Bukowski of Harvard Medical School will review recently published clinical trials on nutrients that affect the immune system.
The education program was developed with an advisory board that includes International Dairy Queen, Cadbury, The Hershey Company, SR Strategy and Park 100 Foods. It runs noon-4pm on April 27 and 9am–noon on April 28-29. The SupplySide East exhibit hall opens April 28-29 at noon.
