DUBLIN—The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) recalled all Irish pork products due to dioxin contamination. The Dec. 6 recall involves retailers, the hospitality sector and the Irish pig processing sector. Preliminary evidence indicates that the contamination problem likely started in September 2008.
In an update, FSAI said the data in relation to health risks for people exposed to dioxins does not provide cause for concern. Its view, based on an assessment of international and national data, continues to be that a short-term peak exposure to dioxins and PCBs does not result in adverse health effects.
