NEW YORK—According to a recent report from The Nielsen Co., “Demo Drill Down: Dried Veggies/Grains, Ice Sales Skew to Hispanic-American Households,” when it comes to dried vegetables and grains, Hispanic consumers outspend the average American household by more than 90%.

The report was compiled using Nielsen’s Homescan consumer panel, which tracks American purchasing behaviors via a UPC-scanning device, between June 30, 2007 and June 28, 2008.

The data show that Hispanic Americans also spent 88% more on ice, 75% more on baby food and 64% more on disposable diapers than the average family.
