MONTREAL—Winners of the Rosell Probiotic Challenge were announced during the 5th International Symposium on Probiotics in Quebec City.
First prize was awarded to Jean-François Daudelin for research evaluating the potential and mode of action of probiotics bacteria and yeast in the prevention of enterotoxigenic E. coli infection in piglets.
Second prize was awarded to Stéphanie-Anne Girard for research on the effects of a probiotic preparation in an animal model of myocardial infarction.
The Challenge, open to university students in North and South America, aims to encourage awareness and education regarding probiotics. Young researchers were assessed by a scientific jury for the quality of their works.
