WASHINGTON D.C.—The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a ban on the import of milk products from China in an effort to ensure that melamine-contaminated products do not enter the U.S. market.

FDA listed dozens of products, including cereals, snack foods, cheese, ice cream, carbonated drinks, candy, puddings and pet foods as potentially contaminated with melamine.

Additionally Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt and FDA Commissioner Andrew von Eschenbach, MD, will open new FDA offices in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
