Students Brewing Healthy Beer

HOUSTON—A group of Rice University students are using genetic engineering to create beer containing resveratrol. Rice's "BioBeer" will be entered in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition Nov. 8 and 9 in Cambridge, Mass. The group’s goal is to create a genetically modified strain of yeast that will ferment beer and produce resveratrol at the same time.
