China’s Government Assumes Some Milk Scandal Blame

HONG KONG—The Chinese government has assumed some of the blame for the melamine milk powder scandal, Reuters reported. According to the news source, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao told Science magazine, “We feel that although problems occurred at the company, the government also has a responsibility," he said, "The important steps in making milk products--production of raw milk, collection, transportation, processing and making formula--all need to have clear standards and testing requirements."
