TRENTON, N.J.─ Teenage obesity has caused severe liver damage and even the need for liver transplants in some overweight teens with too much body fat.

Cirrhosis, liver failure, liver cancer and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease are conditions being inflicted on overweight and obese teens across the world, reveeal medical studies. The findings warrant a major push for pediatricians and parents to take notice of the epidemic, as well as to promote healthy habits like diet and exercise, researchers urged.
