Supercenters and dollar stores are becoming consumers’ store of choice, according to Information Resources Inc. (IRI).
IRI’s “Channel Migration 2008” reported that, in the last year, supercenters saw a 5.5% increase in shopper visits, dollar stores saw a 4% jump, and supermarket trips declined 2%.
According to IRI, sales of consumer packaged goods in supercenters also increased, while that of supermarkets declined.
