NEW YORK/ CHICAGO─Global food inflation and high food price will not dissipate anytime soon, despite the decrease in grain, livestock and energy prices, Reuters reported.

The news source said, “even if prices continue to slide on the exchanges in Chicago and New York, there is a considerable lag before market trends in underlying commodity input costs are passed to consumers.” Lower prices are not expected until late this year or early 2009, economists said.
