The lifetime risk of cardiovascular disease among those with diabetes proved high for both obese and normal weight individuals, researchers revealed. According to the May 2008 issue of Diabetes Care, women with diabetes and of a normal-weight have a 54.8 percent lifetime risk of CVD, while obese women face a 78.8 percent risk. Almost 80 percent of normal-weight, diabetic men face a lifetime risk of CVD, while obese men have an almost 90 percent risk.
