Virgo Announces Focus on the Future Education Additions

Virgo Publishing, Phoenix, has announced recent speaker additions to the education program for the Focus on the Future Executive Conference and Retreat, set for Jan. 22 to 25, 2008, in Scottsdale, AZ, at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort and Spa in Gainey Ranch. The Education Program is by co-sponsored by Lesaffre Group and Unigen Pharmaceuticals.

Recent Education Program additions include:

  • Orange Julius’ Bill Barrier and Kellogg’s Barbara Garter will examine how health and wellness affects big business;
  • General Mills’ Jeff Bellairs will speak on innovation in food product development;
  • Center for Science in the Public Interest’s (CSPI) Ilene Ringel Heller to present “The Safety of Functional Foods”;
  • Elizabeth Sloan, Ph.D., to give the presentation “Are We Missing the Market? Moving on to the Next Generation of Nutraceutical Needs”;
  • Barbara Katz from HealthFocus International presenting “Where Food and Medicine Meet in the Eye of Shoppers’;
  • Euromonitor’s Virginia Lee to examine ingredient trends and in the supplement, food and beverage industry through 2011.

Other Education Program highlights include:

  • Howard Moskowitz will impart development and marketing strategies for position and profit growth;
  • Tufts University’s Eileen Kennedy, Ph.D., to evaluate adding dietary supplements to the food pyramid;
  • Kate Peringer from The Hartman Group will present consumer research on sustainability issues;
  • Functional beverage sales, product and consumer trends will be covered by Packaged Facts’ David Sprinkle;
  • Datamonitor’s Tom Vierhile to examine moderation and avoidance trends in food and drinks;
  • The Natural Marketing Institute’s Steve French discussing NMI’s market and consumer data;
  • Lynn Dornblaser from Mintel will unveil new product trends in the “better-for-you” food and beverage arena;
  • National Cancer Institute’s Cindy Davis, Ph.D., to present “Bioactive Dietary Ingredients for Cancer Prevention.”
