Virgo Publishing, Phoenix, announced this week that applications for the Food Product Design Scientific Excellence Awards, which will be presented at SupplySide West 2008, Oct. 22 to 24 at The Venetian & The Sands, Las Vegas, are now being accepted. The award will be given to an ingredient supplier or technology provider that has achieved remarkable innovation. “The Scientific Excellence Award acknowledges a company that is contributing to science-based, cutting-edge product development,” says Peggy Jackson, director of publishing for Virgo Publishing. “SupplySide West, the world’s largest event for healthy and innovative ingredients, is the perfect venue to acknowledge this commendable achievement.” Ingredient suppliers or technology providers with new ingredient/technology science, a new application, or any research-based breakthrough in ingredient/technology science are encouraged to submit an application for the award online at FoodProductDesign.com. Applications will be accepted through July 11, 2008. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges comprised of R&D and product development professionals from leading food and beverage manufacturing companies. The winner will be notified the week of Sept. 2 and presented an award at SupplySide West 2008 on Friday, Oct. 24. The winner also will be acknowledged in a press release posted on the Food Product Design and SupplySide Web sites before SupplySide West; an ad in the Food Product Design show issue and SupplySide West Show Guide; the post-show review in Food Product Design; and a press release sent to trade media after SupplySide West. Additionally, the winner will receive an award graphic to be used in marketing materials.
