Safety First

Over the past decade, the food manufacturing industry has been moving consistently in the direction of "natural" foods.  Whether or not you believe all the positive publicity about the advantages of a diet heavy in "natural" foods, it seems the consumer public is increasingly in favor of it, as shown by the increase in dollars being spent on food products promoted as "natural" on their labels.

One problem food manufacturers face in this area is how to ensure the safety of their products and still maintain the word "natural" on their labels. Many of the systems and products historically used to ensure food safety will not fit the "natural" parameters and allow the word "natural" to appear on the label.

Fortunately, a number of food industry suppliers have been busy developing food safety options that are "natural" friendly. One such company is Purac America, which has developed a series of "natural" food preservatives which, while offering food safety, also will allow "natural" labeling.

For more information on these products, you may go to the e-book section of Food Product Design's website and read "A Natural and Clean Label Solution to Food Protection."

And while you’re there, check out the other offerings from other suppliers.

Fast food and ready-to-eat microwable foods are almost a staple in every home, and this is such a sad reality. Labeling these products right and the vigilance of the consumers to actually read the label should turn this reality around and for the better.

In order for us to know that the food we eat are really contains natural ingredients, do not buy instant food, because instant foods are contained artificial ingredients just to preserve the life of the food. We should prepare our own food just to make sure that we are eating really natural and safe.

I agree with your post. Foods need to only contain safe ingredients and natural would be even better. Good for Purac America!!! I hope others follow.
