Trends for 2009.... Part 2
Yesterday I listed my top 5 trends for 2009. Today, here are my second 5.
Companies will look for line extension products rather than "new" ideas in order to benefit from both consumer loyalty to existing top brands and the long standing ability of those brands to generate sales and sustainable profits.
The baby boomers desire to maintain health and youth will continue to drive the "healthy snacks" sector.
Despite the tight economy, the natural, healthy, and most particularly the "free from" themes will see a very active 2009.
It will become even more obvious that fruits and fruit flavors are the future of functional foods.
Salt reduction and replacement will be one of, if not the top focus for product developers.
