An article in the Wall Street Journal examined the quest to find the perfect gourmet decaf coffee bean that could possibly help stimulate the $2 billion decaf business, which has remained flat in recent years. Farmers, scientists and multinational companies are in a race to deliver a bean that is naturally low in caffeine, and many are spending millions to identify, breed or genetically modify the product.
